Shirley Horn

Those of you who already know me probably are aware of by extreme admiration for the music of late pianist/singer Shirley Horn and the influence it has had on my life. In tribute to her I created the Shirley Horn Discography with jazz expert Michael Fitzgerald.
I saw Ms. Horn live on many occasions, and I treasure them all. I saw her play the piano with her fists, kind of like a classier, more refined Dorothy Donegan-style, on the uptempos, which was thrilling. And I remember getting drunk without the aid of alcohol one night at Maxim’s in NYC. The musical tension is so thick the audience holds its breath so as not to shatter it. The way the trio made music as one at the slowest of tempos seemed miraculous, and the entire audience felt as one, too, as we waited for each downbeat to fall.
Shirley Horn Discography Introduction

I hope you’ll take a look at the discography, and I also hope you’ll listen to her recordings.
